As proof that we do read your survey responses, we are choosing to respond to the KHL comments first. More than respond, we are making a great effort to bring the KHL section back up-to-date and give it a fresh look with our new graphics template that has already found its home on our NHL and AHL sections. The work has already begun, but before we get to far, I would like to mention a couple things regarding the lack of updates to the KHL section prior to this and about the upcoming changes/updates.
Many of you may be wondering why it is coming up on the 2015/16 season, and we still only have a few 2014/15 season ices on the site. There is really a very simple reason for this, and no, it is not because I do not care about the KHL or its fans. In reality, I just do not know much about the KHL. I have found it to be quite a struggle to keep up with all of the changes, especially when most of the news about the league is in Russian, which I do not speak or read. Worse than that, many of the modified ice graphics are extremely difficult to come by, or perhaps I just do not know what I am searching for, because again... much of this stuff is in Russian. Don't feel bad, I am from the midwest USA and I also struggle with the French language of the QMJHL. So my reason for not updating actually came down to my lack of knowledge which i felt, and still feel prevents me from providing the best quality work for this league. However, many of you really want this to continue to be a major part of the site so I will do my best to deliver. I also am asking that if you have KHL knowledge and especially graphics that could help, please email us at frozenfaceoff57@gmail.com.
The updates have already started and one thing that was long overdue was updating the navigation bar with the current and inactive teams. I have tried to make sure to include everyone but if you see an error, shoot me an email.
With the new graphics template that we have been implementing throughout the site, we are striving to create higher quality center ice graphics with the focus on the center circle and the red line designs. Obviously red line designs are not a big issue in the KHL, but one thing you may notice is that the advertisements such as Chevrolet are not on the new graphics. We are no longer putting ads on the center ice graphics unless they are crucial to the overall center ice layout. We found we were spending far too much time on the locating and updating company logos (particularly on the AHL section). I know this will not be the most popular thing but rest assured that we will continue to use real advertisements on the ice graphics when they fall in or around the center circle. Most other ads are not entirely visible within the range of our center ice graphics anyway.
This update will be a work in progress for some time as it is still difficult for us to locate reference shots and the necessary graphics to put on the ice. With a new season coming up, it will surely take some time to get to all of those new designs as well, but we will do our best.
Enjoy the updates that are up and the ones that are still to come!
