When the puck drops on opening night against the Anaheim Ducks on October 6th, Coyotes fans will get their first look at the new Gila River Arena video board.
The video board was first installed at The Palace of Auburn Hills for the Detroit Pistons in 2014, but was only used for a couple seasons before the Pistons moved to the brand new Little Caesars Arena in the heart of Detroit.

The Palace sat empty for an entire season, and a modern, state-of-the-art scoreboard sat idle months. Now the Coyotes have partnered with the City of Glendale and AEG to purchase and install this board in their own arena. It will look almost identical to its days in The Palace, aside from the arena signage and the internal structure, which seems to have been scaled back a bit from its previous installation in Auburn Hills.
The main screens on the bench sides of the rink will be twice the size of the old board, measuring 24 feet high by 42 feet wide and feature 6-millimeter line spacing that provide 1080p HD imagery. The two displays facing the goals each measure 16 feet high by 27.5 feet wide and feature 6-millimeter line spacing to provide 720p HD imagery. The center-hung installation combines for 2,896 square feet of active display area.
