You may think all arenas are alike; that they all follow a cookie cutter form. At times I would tend to agree, at least on the surface. When you really take a good look though, you find that each NHL arena has its own unique characteristics that set them apart from one another. Some are as obvious as seat color or bowl layout, while others might be more subtle. For instance, things like team stores, displays featuring historical moments, getting around the arena and nods to the home team can often be overlooked. Jeff Nash of “Rinks Around The League” is a wealth of knowledge as he has been to all 32 current NHL arenas, and as a former member of the Oilers video team, he has been behind the scenes to see things the average fan would never get the chance to look at.
This summer, I would highly recommend subscribing to his channel and watching his full series of videos highlighting each and every current NHL arena, with a bonus look at Rexall Place and Joe Louis Arena.
Here is one of my favorites to get you started. I learned a lot about this arena.
